  Leh Ladakh Tour

Destinations Covered: Delhi - Ladakh - Leh - Alchi - Nubra Valley

Arrive Delhi and check into hotel. Delhi, is India’s capital territory, it is a massive metropolitan area in the country’s north. Old Delhi, a neighbourhood dating to the 1600s, stands the imposing Mughal-era Red Fort, a symbol of India, and the sprawling Jama Masjid mosque, whose courtyard accommodates 25,000 people. A combined half-day sightseeing tour of old and new Delhi covering Red Fort, Jama Majid Mosque, visit to Chandni Chowk, Rajghat, pass through India Gate & Parliament House, visit to Humayun’s Tomb & Qutub Minar a minaret that forms part of the Qutub complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Mehrauli area of Delhi, India. Overnight stay at Hotel in Delhi.

Take a morning flight to Leh. On arrival at Leh- a high-desert city in the Himalayas, check in to your hotel.Leh is at 3,500m above sea level. It is important to rest and relax for the rest of the day to acclimatise and remain at hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Half day sightseeing of Leh city visiting the Shanti Stupa. This monument offers fantastic views over the city, Thikse Monastery and Shey before your return to hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Full day excursion to Alchi. A 2 hour drive takes you from Leh to Alchi. The drive often takes considerably longer as there are a number of interesting places to stop including a Sikh temple, the Indus / Zanskar River confluence, Magnetic Hill and some fine photogenic examples of stark, cold desert scenery. The drive back from Alchi to Leh is broken up with a visit to the eroded remains of Basgo and Likir Monasteries. Overnight at hotel in Leh.

A long day - a 5 hour drive gets you from Leh over the world's highest pass to get to the Nubra Valley. The drive could take longer as there are a number of photo stops, some amazing scenery and a recommended restaurant stop. On arrival in the picturesque Nubra Valley, the rest of the day is at leisure.

An hour's drive takes you around the valley to Samstanling Monastery. One of the modern monasteries, you are likely to hear the monks at prayer at more sociable hours. In complete contrast to yesterday and the glaciers of the pass, the afternoon is spent riding through the Hundar sand dunes on camelback.

The drive from Nubra Valley back to Leh is likely to be considerably shorter and should actually take five hours. On arrival, the rest of the day is at leisure, but you are welcome to take a walking tour around Ladakh's capital should you wish to.

Transfer to Leh domestic airport to catch flight for Delhi for further international air connection back home.
