  Fresh & Stunning Tour

The Buddha preached that the way to salvation was not dependent on God of Divine Grace but on understanding the way things really are. It is essentially concerned with all living, suffering beings caught in the treadmill of desire and craving.

Destinations Covered: Vienna - Slovenia - Postojna - Trieste
Duration: 7 Nights / 8 Days

Meeting at the Vienna International Airport (VIE) at 13:30, transfer to Ljubljana, proclaimed by European institutions as the »European Green Capital 2016«. Hotel accommodation, evening free for dinner, optional: casino. Overnight stay.

After breakfast, we visit the Prešeren Square, Tromostovje (the Triple Bridge), Town Square with its baroque fountain, Town Hall and the Cathedral of St. Nicholas. We climb the Ljubljana Castle and admire its panoramic view of the city. Afternoon free for shopping, casino. Overnight stay.

After breakfast, transfer to another part of Slovenia – Gorenjska, to the most renowned tourist place in Slovenia, Lake Bled. We walk through the Vintgar gorge (if the weather allows it), that was created by the wonderful green Radovna river with its unique pools and cataracts. The Bled Castle, first mentioned in the year of 1011, is one of the oldest Slovenian castles. From the castle, situated on a steep cliff rising from the lake, there is a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. After descending the castle, we cross Lake Bled to get to the Bled Island with a characteristic boat called “pletna” (optional). The small church on it has its origins in the Middle Ages, but was restored during the baroque period and has a self-standing tower with the “bell of wishes”.

The beautiful mountain road leads to Bohinj with its lake, the largest in Slovenia. If the weather allows it, we take the cable car to Vogel and see the mountains from another point. On our way back to Ljubljana, we can make a short stop to visit the medieval town of Škofja Loka (known since 973) if desired. Overnight stay.

After breakfast, we visit the largest Karst cave – Postojna Cave. With its 20 km long cave system, it is the most visited cave in Europe and one of the largest Karst landmarks of the world. The guided visit of the cave is conducted partly by an underground train and partly on foot. The large Concert Hall is the home of the olm, the most famous cave animal, and the biggest troglodytic amphibian in the world, which used to be believed to be dragon offspring.

We will also see the Predjama Castle, partly built in a cave in the middle of a 123 m high cliff. The original castle was famous because of its owner, the rebel knight Erazem. Today’s castle is from the Renaissance period and incorporates a museum. Our trip comes to an end in Portorož, where the remaining afternoon is free for exploring (restaurants, beach, casino). Overnight stay.

Today’s destination is Trieste, freed from Venice domination in 1719, when the golden days of its history began. Its role as an important Habsburg city and harbour was accentuated with construction of the railway Vienna - Trieste. We get to see the city center and the beautiful castle Miramar, built by archduke Ferdinand Maximillian I for himself and his wife Charlotte of Belgium. The Slovenian coastal road leads to the ancient and beautiful Piran, also called “small Venice”. One of the world’s landmarks, situated in the Piran region, are the saltworks, where even today salt is acquired from the sea in the traditional, natural way with the help of sun and wind. We walk through the old city of Piran, Tartini square, visit the church of St. George and finish our day in Portorož. Overnight stay.

A day off on the Slovenian coast, enjoying the beach. Upon request: trip to Venice with a panoramic city tour and / or shopping trip to the outlet village Noventa di Piave near Venice.
